First and foremost, ICEX GROUP will always prioritise data security and will use your preferred method of data erasure. We provide certification of this and take on the liability.
Prior to the existence of powerful data erasure software (that meets government compliance standards, such as Blancco), shredding would be the guaranteed way to erase your data securely.
However, this is not sustainable as the hard drive cannot be reused, resulting in, at best, recycling for parts and/or, unfortunately, often e-waste that's landfilled. E-waste is the fastest-growing waste stream in the world, and that is why we think it is so important to avoid landfill. Recycling is the last resort in the circular economy framework and, therefore, also for us. We send nothing to landfill!

These erasure software programmes must meet Infosec and GCHQ standards in accordance with the (UK) GDPR. Blancco - the software we use:

Is accredited by the NCSC (National Cyber Security Centre) - the Government’s technical authority for information assurance and cyber security.
Meets the requirements of HMG InfoSec Standard No. 5 - the standard developed by the Government for the secure sanitisation/erasure of data.
ICEX GROUP uses Blancco because of the high standards it reaches in offering secure guarantees that mean shredding is not necessary, and a more sustainable and equally viable alternative is available.

We also hold the QSS (quality service standards) BS EN 15713:2009 Secure Destruction of Confidential Material Code of Practice.
